Revenant Funded

Revenant reached its funding goal in just 4 1/2 hours last night! I've announced four small stretch goals for additional Memento playsets, and I have an idea for a larger stretch goal once those are reached. Check it out at the Kickstarter page here!
Over the weekend, I put the finishing touches on a tiny game I came up with a few months ago, and I've started a Kickstarter project to fund it.

Revenant is a one-on-one story game about passion beyond death. One Player takes the role of someone who has come back from the dead to complete some all-consuming mission. The Narrator is responsible for the obstacles that will stand in the Player's way.

Revenant will be released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license, but only if you make it happen. I'm asking for $200 in the next two weeks. In return, you will be thanked in the rules and will have exclusive access to the game for three months before it is released to the world. At the higher reward levels, you can get an exclusive deluxe print edition that won't be available anywhere else.

This is something of an experiment. The game is done. As soon as the project completes successfully, backers will receive the PDF. Let's see if enough people want to give it to the world.

Custom Fudge Dice

As part of my Kickstarter for Full Moon, I offered custom Fudge dice as a reward. I placed the order shortly after the project ended, and the shipment arrived today. Apparently 500 dice weighs about 6.5 pounds. It looks something like this.

Full Moon Dice

I recently took part in a virtual panel discussion on using Kickstarter to publish your indie game design, part of the Indie+ online gaming convention that was run on Google+. A recording of the G+ Hangout is available on YouTube, and I've embedded it below. I worry that I sounded unprepared, but hopefully you will enjoy it. The other panelists really knew what they were talking about.

Work is continuing on the Full Moon rule book, but it is going more slowly than I had hoped. The rules text is pretty much done, and I'm now starting on the example material that helps explain those rules. Then I will be writing the setting material, including the factions I will be developing with several high-level backers.

To help with the process, and to keep everyone informed about my progress, I am going to try to blog here at least a few times a week. Sometimes, these posts will be design journals. Other times, they will include game material such as NPCs, factions, or adventure seeds.

I look forward to comments and feedback, if for no other reason than to know that people are reading this and looking forward to the game. You can subscribe to the site's RSS feed using the link on the right so you'll get updates as I post entries.

Thanks to all my Kickstarter backers for making this possible!
