I’ve included dollar values for all of the equipment in the Space Patrol campaign. Normally, equipment is provided by the Patrol in the ship’s initial inventory. However, if the crew is planetside and needs to requisition gear from a local Patrol base, or if they want something that isn’t standard issue, they need to know the cost of the equipment when making an Assistance Roll (from Pulling Rank).
The following gear is issued to specialists (engineers and medics) when called for by the mission profile.
Engineering Field Kit
This heavy field kit includes mini-toolkits for Armoury (Force Shields), Electrician, Electronics Repair (Comms, Computer, Security, and Sensors), and Mechanic (High Performance Spacecraft), allowing rolls of these skills at -2. (Engineers can download Fine-quality software tools to their multiscanners or uniform computers that offset this penalty.) The kit also holds a mini-plasma torch, 200 spare A cells, 20 B cells, and 10 C cells. $5,148, 22 lbs., 20A + 15B/10 hr.
Includes a standard first aid kit that gives +1 to First Aid rolls, or +2 when bandaging to stop bleeding; a medscanner that interfaces with the medic’s multiscanner, giving +3 to Diagnosis skill; a neural inhibitor, which gives +1 to First Aid to treat shock; a pneumohypo; and 10 doses each of Antirad (each dose halves effective rads of new exposure), Purge (neutralizes active TL10- drugs in 2d minutes if user makes HT roll, nauseates on critical failure), programmable immune nanomachines (Diagnosis roll to identify disease, Physician roll to program nanomachines, -2 for rare disease or -4 for unknown ones, cures disease in 1d hours), Quickheal (1 dose/hour heals 1d HP following First Aid), and Respirocytes (+2 FP and Doesn’t Breathe (Oxygen Storage x25) until oxygen runs out or user reaches 0 FP). $13,970, 2.45 lbs., A+B/10 hr. Nanofacs use programmable nanomachines and fluid feedstock to create manufactured goods. Larger ships include integrated nanofac systems, with functions as noted in their descriptions.
Smaller ships may carry nanofac workbenches (usually in the engine room), that can assemble $500 or 1 lb. of product per hour. $200,000, 100 lbs. external power.
Some landing parties are issued suitcase nanofacs that assemble $50 or 0.1 lbs. per hour. $20,000, 10 lbs., D/4 hrs.
Feedstock weighs as much as the object to be produced and costs $5/lb.
When crew expect to face extreme environmental conditions while away from the ship, regulations require one of the following survival packs be carried for every three crew members or fraction thereof. Each pack will support three crew members for 8 days, longer if they can forage for food.
A three-man bioplas pressure tent with a small air tank provides full life support for six weeks. Three vapor canteens hold 1 quart of water that they draw from the atmosphere every two hours. The pack also includes three sleeping bags, 50 yards of 3/4” smart rope (can be programmed by microcommunicator, supports 550 lbs.), 24 days’ supply of food tablets, and 3 D cells for the tent and 3 B cells for the canteens. The pack is contained in a frame backpack that holds 100 lbs. of gear. $7,384, 103 lbs. LC4
When the crew needs to traverse dark and unstable terrain, from alien landscapes to collapsing urban colonies, they take this pack. A belt pouch contains a mini flashlight that attaches to an omniblaster, producing a 75-yard beam that can be tuned to infrared or ultraviolet; gripboots, granting +1 to Climbing or +2 on ice; 10 smart pitons, giving an additional +1 to Climbing; and 20 yards of 1/8” smart rope that supports 1,600 pounds and can be commanded to turn rigid or flexible by microcommunicator. $621, 3.45 lbs.
